About the Artist -- Using polymer clay, a variety of papers and wire, and a friendly word processor, sculptor and writer Katherine Dewey creates a world which is at once drawn from myth and anchored in reality. Fired by experience, research, and a relentless imagination, she sculpts and writes about the creatures that occupy a land of indeterminate boundary and time. All of her figures fit comfortably in the hand.

Among the best known figurative sculptors working in the medium of polymer clay, Katherine is also a popular teacher who shares the techniques she has learned over her 30-year career. Her new book, Creating Life-Like Animals in Polymer Clay was released in March, 2000 by North Light Books. Visit Elvenwork to see more of Katherine's work.
