On October 4th, 2007 publication rights to Creating Life-Like Figures were formally transferred to Watson-Guptill Publications, source of some of the finest reference books for artists working in every medium. We take great satisfaction in their faith in Katherine's book and their shared view that polymer clay is a genuine artist's medium. Our aim was to find a very reputable home for a book we know to be one of the classics in Polymer Clay, a publisher who could make it available to artists and crafters around the world in a way Elvenwork Press could never do. Watson-Guptill is that home. Look for their new release in May, 2008! If you are a sculptor or aspire to be one, Creating Lifelike Figures will become your "clay bible" from the moment you see it.
Here is just some of what Watson-Guptill says about the new Creating Lifelike Figures in Polymer Clay in their book release catalog:
On November 1st, 2003, Elvenwork Press introduced this first-ever book for the 3D figurative artist on the use of polymer clay as a serious creative medium. Authored by a renowned professional sculptor and teacher, an artist who was one of the pioneers in the use of the medium when polymer clay was first introduced in the mid-1970s. It was only after serious consideration that we allowed what has become a sculptor's standard to go out of print in July, 2007 on the assurance of a much larger publisher that they would re-introduce it within a year or so with virtually no changes to its content. EP owes our sincere thanks to everyone who made our first book a polymer clay classic.
